It could best be said that everything they do is AT LEAST above average for the industry, but there's nothing they do – other than vertical integration and marketing – that is best in the industry. There are more accurate watches. There are tougher watches. There are more complicated watches. There are more artful watches. But as a total package, a modern Rolex watch exudes quality in all aspects and has a long reputation for being a luxury good that's worth having because it will serve you well for a lifetime. Worth the price? Well, that's up to you; but definitely worth having.

  2. I would argue that Ric Flair constantly mentioning it in his promos (especially in the mid-80’s at what would’ve arguably the height of his popularity) didn’t hurt anything either & was. Flair would even work into one of his more famous catchphrases: “.. you’re talking to the Rolex Wearing, Diamond Ring Wearing, Kiss Stealin’, Wheelin’ Dealin’ Son Of A Gun!” . There’s even a story of Flair at a restaurant with some chick (who I presume Flair had picked up at the matches earlier that day), drunkenly paying the bill by tossing his Rolex in his bowl of unfinished soup, claiming he could always buy another one. He wasn’t so happy with himself the next morning when he couldn’t find it & the girl he took back to his hotel, told Ric the same thing I just told all of you. Getting back on track, I think Ric Flair helped play a part in Rolex’s success or at least bringing into pop culture and immediately associating it with wealth & status.
